Protect what matters

Life & private health insurance

Life and health cover is the safety net under everything else you are building. We help Auckland families put the right cover in place — explained in plain English — so a serious event never turns into a financial crisis.

What it covers

  • Life cover that pays a lump sum to your family
  • Private health insurance for surgery, specialists and scans
  • A review of policies you already hold — are the premiums still buying the right cover?

Who it's for

Families with a mortgage, parents who want their children's future secured, and anyone who wants private healthcare choices rather than public waiting lists.

Common mistakes we see

  • Waiting until a health scare before applying — cover is cheaper and easier to get while you are healthy.
  • Insuring only the main earner, when losing a stay-at-home parent would also create real costs.
  • Letting a policy renew untouched for years without checking whether it still matches your life.

Questions to ask before you buy

  • If I passed away tomorrow, how long could my family keep up the mortgage repayments?
  • Would my health cover give me a real choice of specialist and timing, or only what the public system offers?
  • When did I last check what my premiums actually buy me today?

How we help

We compare cover from New Zealand's main insurers side by side, explain the exclusions in plain language, handle the paperwork, and stay with you for reviews and claims — not just the sale.

“Eduard set up life and health cover for our family and explained every option in plain English. When we needed to claim, it was handled quickly.”

Common questions

How much life cover does a family actually need?

We start from your mortgage and other debts, add the income your household would need, and subtract what you already have — then round it to a number that fits your budget.

Can I get life insurance with a pre-existing condition?

Often, yes. Insurers treat the same condition differently — some may add a premium loading or an exclusion. We approach the insurers most likely to cover you well.

Is private health insurance worth it in New Zealand?

The public system is strong for emergencies, but waits for non-urgent surgery and scans can stretch to months or years. Private cover buys you timing and specialist choice when it matters.

Do I need a medical exam to apply?

Usually not. Most applications are a detailed questionnaire; a nurse check is only needed for larger cover amounts or certain disclosed conditions.

What happens to my cover if I move to Australia?

Some New Zealand policies can transfer or continue, others cannot. Tell us before you move so we can check your options — this is a common gap we help close.
